An Other From Another Mother

Hooray, I gots the ol' interbutts back! That means I can update the site again. I know that just brings you so much joy that you're about to burst! Well, go do it somewhere else, this is new carpet, you asshole.

Today's update comes courtesy of Crono Maniac. You may remember a little while ago when that whole Metroid: Other M and the ENTIRE INTERNET EXPLODED! After I finished the game and finally got around to checking out other cracks in the interbutts for how the game was faring, I found that the experience had been pretty divisive. Over at the SnS forums in particular, we saw many varying points of view and interesting points made, so I decided to ask someone "on the other side of the aisle" to do their own write up of the game. I wanted to see just how different things would be. So now, you can head on over and read Crono Maniac's thoughts on Metroid: Other M as well. This isn't something I'll be doing all the time, mind you. I just wanted to try something a little different. So, a big thanks to Crono Maniac for indulging my curiosity for another opinion.

I should note that today's review IS INTENSELY SPOILERRIFFIC AND SHOULD ONLY BE READ IF YOU'VE COMPLETED THE GAME OR HAVE NO DESIRE TO PLAY IT.

A Boy Called Sailor Hutch

Oh my dear lord have we got a bit of a monster for you today.

A few months ago, our good pal and long-time SMPS.Net contributator dood, The Hutch wrote up a rather lengthy Sailor Moon synopsis on the forum. I liked it enough to ask him to expound upon it a bit and make it more review-like, because I wanted to include it on the site. So, today I'm happy to present to you The Hutch's rather in-depth review and synopsis of the Sailor Moon TV series. You Might Say Polly Has Control Issues

REJOICE, LOYAL SOCKSMAKEPEOPLESEXY.NET READER! Your Sunday doesn't have to be boring, because I, The Great Polly, have arrived to make it all better. At least for seven or eight minutes!

You know what? I've been stewing over something for a long time. I've mentioned it to a lot of people, and while some think I'm out of my mind, I've found a surprising amount of people that agree with me. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to finally get around to writing about it, but the inspiration struck the other day after reading this blog post by someone I follow on The Twatters. It inspired me to write my own sorta in-depth piece about modern-day gaming controls and how I feel about them. It's a little different than the stuff I've done around here for the last few years, but I feel it's an interesting throwback to how I used to write for the site and I was excited to do it and had a lot of fun. Perhaps a preview of something that's likely to appear on the site regularly in the future.

Of course, I think we all know how my perception of "regularly" tends to end up. GOD WHY AM I SO FUCKING LAZY?

To Bring 2011 In With A Bang

What the hell? But 2010 isn't even close to being over, what the hell are you on, Polly? Well, right now I'm chock full of sushi...whether that has any bearing on my mental capacities at the moment will remain to be seen, but given the scope of what I'm about to announce and how insane it's going to make me, I think it best I avoid the shit for a good long time.

Some of you may remember that at the first of this year we updated the site for thirty-one consecutive days. There was no real reason behind it other than it's something I've always wanted to try. I had originally planned on doing all the content myself, but ended up seeking the help of some friends to help get the thing done, and they made it turn out spectacular.

This coming January, I plan to do it again, and since a lot of people seemed interested in wanting to submit content last time while it was going on, I figured I'd go ahead and do the crazy thing and make it a free-for-all, allowing anybody that wishes to contribute something to do so. I'm announcing it now, because it was about this time last year that I began working on material that would appear on the site three months later, so maybe some of you would like the same courtesy should you be interested in participating.

Basic submission rules remain the same, only now I ask that if you're submitting something that you'd like to go up in January, that you absolutely make sure to put January 2011 somewhere in the subject line of your submission email. As of right now there is no set-in-stone deadline as for when submissions have to be turned in to me in order to have a shot at being included, but there will be something announced later to this effect.

I will also begin accepting movie reviews for those who are interested in writing them. I plan to re-launch the Movie Review-related feature, so if anybody out there wants to contribute to that, shoot me an email and we'll have to go over a few things.

For now, it's all pretty simple. Submit crap and tell me to put it up in January as opposed to now. Should any new details pop up, they'll be posted here for your convenience.

So, I Heard You Were Here 4 Update

Hey, hey! I'm back from vacation and my head/brain aren't broken anymore from awesome self-inflicted concussions! Time to get things a-rollin' here on this "already getting too god damn cold for my liking" autumn season!

Boy, that Alex Hill, talk about a cool dood. He's waited what probably seems like forever for me to finally get around to posting the article he cooked up wherein he dissects the casts of Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. Though he does spend a good amount of time sharing his opinions of the game, it's the Survivors, the stars of the show, that take center stage this time and he's got quite a bit to say about all of 'em. So, be sure to click the link and have a look up there before we're all off to go have a look at The Sacrifice which is supposedly being released today.

Gotta get my zombie shootan mojo kickin' again!
