The Summer Of The SEGA
May 28th, 2008

(Or MegaDrive to you folks with higher education and great teeth!)

It's that time again! I know I said last year that I likely wouldn't be doing another themed week in the future, but a couple of people requested this one specifically and the more I got to thinking about it, the more I liked the idea. Sure, I could have continued down the line and went with an SNES week, but let's face it, it'd just turn into Final Breath of Zelda Lufia Chrono Fire Fantasy Week. The ol' Genny, however, has a bit more diversity in its library and history for better or worse and I think it makes great fodder for another five day fun fest (<--so [REDACTED]gy) of pixels and fart-like explosion sound effects. So, now that the cat's out of the bag, let's get it all down on what YOU, the loyal dog-like follower, can do to help make this little excursion a success.

1. - WRITE SOMETHING! Review, series retrospective, your favorite games! Gimme some substance! Do whatever you want. So long as it's Genesis-related and has a good amount of effort put into it, odds are I'll run it. I'll also accept Sega CD and 32X material since the things plugged directly into the Genny and I never really considered them their own consoles, just add-ons. All of the standard submission rules still apply, so follow them.

If you have a question about an idea or whatever it is you're going to do, feel free to email me and we can discuss it a bit if you're unsure.

2. - Your content needs to be typed up in either a .txt or .doc file. If you choose a .doc file, please remember to NOT INCLUDE THE IMAGES WITHIN THE DOCUMENT, because I will not accept it, no ifs, ands, or buts.

3. - Screenshots and other images you may need to use aren't restricted to any specific file type. Just be aware that HUGE pics (650px width and over) may need resizing or be linked to open in another window. If this is an issue for you, just tell me how you'd like to handle it.

4. - .rar or .zip up your submission plus images, attatch them to an email, and send them off to one or both of the following email addresses:

polly@socksmakepeoplesexy.net
or
socksmakepeoplesexy.mailbag@gmail.com

Then you wait. I'll contact you shortly after I receive your submission and give you a head's up on what the deal is.

5. - Final due date for submissions is MIDNIGHT, JULY 27th. The event will run from July 28th - August 1st. Five days of updates.

6. - ABSOLUTELY NO, FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER... I DON'T EVEN CARE IF YOU'RE BEING FORCED TO DO IT BY A MAN IN YOUR HOUSE WITH A GUN THREATENING TO SHOOT YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY IF YOU DON'T... NO. ALL. YOUR. BASE. BULLSHIT!

Get all that? Good! Now show your 16-bit love for the entire world to see! Or at least to the 4 people that keep F5'ing my site every 3 minutes.

IX
May 25th, 2008

The long-awaited (and seventeen times emailed about) continuation of Patty-Patty-Boombaladi's Final Fantasy retrospective is finally here! Final Fantasy IX takes center stage today, bringing with it crystals, mages, and butt floss. Good times to be had by all!

Stay tuned! In a couple of days I'll be making an announcement concerning plans for another big summertime week-long, user contribution-driven event for you assholes to take part in.

Technical Difficulties RESOLVED (I hope...)
May 8th, 2008

The difficulties with being able to load articles and reviews on the site should now all be fixed. This wouldn't have been done quite as quickly without Rhete's (who somehow managed to weasel his way onto the main page yet AGAIN!) help as he first notified me of the issue and handled a good portion of the work since he was around the net while I was at work.

If anything's still broken just shoot me an email or something and I'll check it out later. But for now, it's time for a Lost season 3 marathon!
