Did you know it's Game of the Year season? Well, you'll find out right at the start of his hot new episode of The World's Favorite and Only Podcast about Videogames! Once things get rollin', John lets us know if Konosuba can keep up the steam for its last three volumes, Rhete's school idol days are well and truly never-ending, and Polly's caught between a rock and two love interests.


As you know, we're big on end of the year lists here at SMPS, and we're always eager for you to get in on the action, especially when it comes time for our end of the year festivities! Those of you that have done this before know what's up, but for anyone new looking to contribute simply follow the below instructions!

1. Pick yourself three games you liked this year. They don't have to have been released this year! If you played it this year and enjoyed it then it's fair game. On your list it goes!

2. Write a small blurb about each game. One or two sentences should suffice, but give us some words to go along with each game!

3. Email your submission to podcast [at-sign] socksmakepeoplesexy.net BY NOON EST ON DECEMBER 12TH. We'll be recording the Game of the Year episodes on the evening of December 12th so this is pretty easy to understand. You might have a few hours of leeway, but don't take your chances!

4. For those of you who would like to read your own lists the same rules as above apply. Three games, three blurbs, read it out, sing it out, whatever you wanna do however you want! Create an .mp3 file, attach it to your email and just send it to the above email address.

Easy as pie, right? You got just a little under a month to get those final decisions in, and we'll be doing reminders on the site in the meantime. As always, we can't wait to hear what games you enjoyed the most! So, thanks in advance for helping out!

The John Thyer Release Day Double Feature!
July 23rd, 2021

In celebration of the three-year anniversary of John Thyer's Facets, he's prepared a birthday double header sure to keep you living the dream for a good while.

Up first we have Wayward, a 120-page novel which serves as an all-new prequel story to the original game's events. Delve into the Facets world and shed light on its characters' pasts, experience action-packed magical battles, and probably have a feel or two or a few or a billion!

Next up is Facets 1.1, which is a rebalance of the original game with handy-dandy difficulty and combat mode options that offer a fair compromise to the original game's difficulty, should you need them. I greatly appreciate your patience while I was getting things taken care of, and though they're not 100% yet, there's no reason to delay the show coming back any further, so we hope to catch you there!

Upcoming Sockscast Summer Hiatus
June 8th, 2021

So, I mentioned at the top of our most recent episode that at some point in the near future that The Sockscast would need to go on hiatus for a bit because I'd be having a major dental procedure at some point. Well, that some point turns out to be this coming Friday, June the 11th.

So, what does that mean for The Sockscast going forward right now? Well, I am currently looking at four to six weeks of healing after my procedure, so there will likely be no more new episodes in June or July at the very least. There's also going to be a period of having some replacements made and getting used to them which may add another two to three weeks, so conservatively I'd say no new episodes for four to six weeks, and maybe the more realistic projection would be six to eight weeks.

So, stay tuned to the main site or our twitter @smps_updates and we'll keep you updated along the way.

RE: God is in the Podcast

Due to a developing story involving Marilyn Manson and multiple counts of abuse and witnessed abuse, Taylor and I are making the decision to pull God is in the Podcast from the SMPS podcast feed.

The words of Evan Rachel Wood were brought up multiple times throughout us running the show. At every point, we tried very hard to impress onto our listening audience that we in no way condoned the man and his behavior, but I feel this situation ahs reached a point where the man's actions are so reprehensible that I don't in any way feel good about hosting a show dedicated to his work on my site any longer.

I want to thank and apologize to everyone that helped take part in the project and made time to come on and have meaningful discussion with us about each album. Removing the podcast from our feed also means removing the work you put in to help us make the show a reality, and all I can offer is a sincere apology, but I suspect many, if not all of you, will understand.
