#20 - Munchman (TI/99-4a)

To the three other people on Earth that remember this game, it was a Pac-Man clone on the Texas Instruments home computer. Instead of eating dots, you're joining chains. Instead of power pellets, there are TI logos. Instead of the ghosts, you have the soulless wicked evil DESPICABLE PIT-SPAWN OF HATRED INCARNATE HOONOS. My early years were full of joy upon reaching high scores at this game, only to be immediately crushed by the horrors of level 18, the RELENTLESS AND UNFORGIVING BEASTS OF DESTRUCTION.

Bonus points: I finally managed to beat level 18 with a level select/extra life code as THE TECHNOLOGY OF MAN VANQUISHES THE APOCALYPSE LORDS. CAKE WILL BE SERVED.

#19 - H.E.R.O. (Atari 2600)

Once again, Activision with pure gold. Younger gamers will probably not remember this game as it was only released on the Atari consoles and a select few others in the 80s. You control a helicopter-pack-wearing guy with a hat laser and bunches of dynamite, trying to save trapped miners in vermin-infested mines. The ultimate mental picture of coolness.

Bonus points: Very impressive gameplay for the 2600. Remember to move after setting the dynamite.

#18 - Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade)

Her husband, significant other, or whatever may get all the attention, but I always had way more fun with the Pac-female instead (Polly will certainly have a comment to put here). Regular Pac-Man always seemed too slow. Ms. Pac-Man totally flipped that concept by being able to directly outrun the ghosts, but mixing up the mazes to require advance planning and strategy. Perhaps. There's just something about this game that's made of love and win.

Bonus points: Speaking of love, just watch the cutscenes. SO THE DRAMA

#17 - Pilotwings 64 (N64)

The original Pilotwings was good enough with its super awesome MODE SEVEN GRAPHICS. The N64 basically took a copy of the game design and added a true 3D world. Even with reasonably accurate physics the game remained fun and easy to play. This game totally needs a Wii remake. I'm talking to YOU, Nintendo.

Bonus points: Rocketbelting across the Little States.

#16 - Spy Hunter (NES)

Way back in the Bronze Age, a video game suddenly appeared where you didn't have to stand up, but rather SIT DOWN to play. You also got to drive a sweet spy car and eradicate your spy-man's enemies with its gadgetry. Admit it, the theme song is playing in your head right now. Right *now* if it wasn't immediately upon reading the title. Ho ho.

Bonus points: You can shoot any car, not just the enemy.
