The top 115 SNES Games Ever According to SnS - Part 1
by Sliders n' Socks

One criticism that seems to come up a lot about the SNES is that the only stuff on it worth playing is either made by Nintendo or Square, and that the overall game library lacks the depth and diversity of say... Genesis. In an attempt to somewhat dispel this, we went over to the Sliders n Socks forum, and said, "Hey! List your 20 favorite SNES games!", and fourteen people did.

Using those lists, and a highly scientific weighting system, we then came up with this list of all 115 games mentioned. It's pretty much the definitive list of SNES games ever! And it's not all Nintendo and Square! But yeah there is a lot of Nintendo and Square too. On with the list!

#115 - Contra III: The Alien Wars
Chosen by: Rhete

Rhete - It's not the best Contra game, but it still had some really fun action stages. Come on, riding a barrage of missiles as they slam into a boss is just badass.

#114 - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Chosen by: Polly

Polly - Because there's just something about a game that's not afraid to strip you down to your boxers and beat the ever-loving shit out of you.

#113 - Simcity
Chosen by: Irish

Irish - I really can't tell you how many hours I poured into this game, it was a lot. Sure this game may have inadvertantly lead to the sims, but i can't hold that against it.

#112 - Harvest Moon
Chosen by: D-Mac

D-Mac - Guilty pleasure, and a fun, light-hearted time waster.

#111 - Disney's Aladdin
Chosen by: Wolf

Wolf - An extremely easy, but otherwise solid platformer from capcom. The genie stages were great.

#110 - Robotrek
Chosen by: Pat

Pat - Sorta like Pokemon, only with robots, more story, and MUCH more Japanesey. Bizarre translation is a plus in my book.

#109 - Super Star Wars:
Return of the Jedi
Chosen by: Derek

Derek - Chewbacca's the best character in this game.

#108 - Top Gear 2
Chosen by: Meister

Meister - There is absolutely nothing special about this game. It just works.

#107 - Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension
Chosen by: D-Mac

D-Mac - Some great looking visuals accompany this surprisingly fun and accessible fighter.

#106 - Lufia & the Fortress of Doom
Chosen by: Genuine Fiber

Genuine Fiber - Cookie cutter to the Nth degree, but it has bright colors and I lurvs it anyway.

#105 - Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose
Chosen by: decoy octopus

decoy octopus - Not as good as Buster's Hidden Treasure but I played this one so much I could almost beat the game on the hardest difficulty.

#104 - Skyblazer
Chosen by: Polly

Polly - I rarely ever hear this game spoken of, but it's one of the lost gems of the generation. Rough around the edges for sure, but god damn gorgeous and fun as hell to play aside from a roadblock or two.

#103 - Batman Returns
Chosen by: Wolf

Wolf - Beat-'em-up done right.

#102 - Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Chosen by: Rhete

Rhete - A very long game with a great story and humor, multiple play styles, and a Gradius minigame!

#101 - Killer Instinct
Chosen by: D-Mac

D-Mac - I've never been good at non-Smash fighting games. That doesn't stop this one from being really, really cool. I've had a lot of fun with it. C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

#100 - Vegas Stakes
Chosen by: Vanor Orion

Vanor Orion - Thanks, Nintendo, for bringing out my mother's latent gambling addiction. And fuck that piece of shit that kept stealing my money while I was playing slots.

#99 - Wild Guns
Chosen by: Polly

Polly - Again, a fun as hell co-op game, but this one doesn't lose much when played by yourself. If you're familiar with games like Nam 1975 you'll be right at home here, only instead of Northside terrorists, you'll be blasting giant aliens and robots.

#98 - Joe and Mac
Chosen by: Genuine Fiber

Genuine Fiber - A platformer that is caveman themed for some reason. It features colorful and diverse levels, huge bosses, cavewoman babes, and the last boss fight is the devil, who is fought in the stomach of a Tyranosaurus.

#97 - Pop'n Twinbee
Chosen by: Meister

Meister - Note to self: get my favourite pink dress back from the cleaners' ~^_^~.

#96 - Out of this World
Chosen by: decoy octopus

decoy octopus - At the time had breathtaking graphics and always awed me when I played it. Never got past the damn dam though.

#95 - Sparkster
Chosen by: Derek

Derek - I liked Rocket Knight Adventures on the Genesis better, but this is okay too.

#94 - Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures
Chosen by: decoy octopus

decoy octopus - Pac man starring in an adventure all over pacland! I really enjoyed it because Pac-Man shows a wide array of emotions and I'm easily amused by shooting him.

#93 - Plok!
Chosen by: Rhete

Rhete - A very cute, but surprisingly hard platformer with a unique style. The prog rock inspired soundtrack is awesome as well.

#92 - Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy
Chosen by: decoy octopus

decoy octopus - A bridge simulator I spent hours upon hours on trying to beat the Kobayashi Maru scenario before I realized that you couldn't.

#91 - Super Bonk
Chosen by: Irish

Irish - Fuck Mario. You want SNES platforming awesomness, Super Bong is da game for you. It's one of the coolest platforming titles ever designed and is fuled by pure wackiness. Only the Kirby titles have a hope in hell of even challenging Super Bonk for best platformer, and I'm siding with bonk since he's the lesser appreciated of the two.
